Thousands of Californians have evacuated their homes in the wake of disastrous wildfires over the past few days, and five have been killed. Among the most recent to leave their homes have been a number of YouTube creators, including Shane Dawson, Jake Paul, and members of FaZe Clan, as the affected region has become a popular place for creators to live and work.

There are currently three major fires affecting communities in Northern and Southern California, but the fires affecting some of YouTube’s creator communities are the Woolsey and Hill fires, which grew to 8,000 acres between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, according to CNN. Northern Los Angeles suburbs like Calabasas and Thousand Oaks, as well as much of Ventura County, are largely affected; CNN reports that more than 75,000 households in Los Angeles and Ventura counties have been ordered to evacuate.

Alongside celebrities like Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, several YouTube creators have kept fans updated about their statuses via Twitter.

Areas like Calabasas and the Hollywood Hills have become hot spots for some of YouTube’s top talent — especially when it comes to setting up team houses. Both Clout Gang and FaZe Clan, which are owned by Rick “FaZe” Banks, are in the Hollywood Hills; Jeffree Star lives in Calabasas near the Kardashians; and Jake Paul moved his Team 10 house to Calabasas last year.

Not only are these residences home for multiple YouTube creators, but they’re also where a lot of YouTube content is created, edited, and produced. If the homes are damaged, it could result in significant work delays for the displaced creators.

Segments of major highways like the US 101, which runs through Los Angeles, are expected to remain closed in certain areas where the fires continue.
