Qualcomm says a native Firefox browser is coming to Windows on ARM

Qualcomm announced today that it’s working with Mozilla to bring a compatible version of Firefox to Snapdragon-powered Windows computers. The new 64-bit version of Firefox will be optimized to run on these computers for better performance.

Firefox is making each browser tab run on individual cores in the CPU and Qualcomm, which has announced the eight-core Snapdragon 8cx earlier today, will have plenty of cores to spare. There are few additional details available; we’ve reached out to Mozilla for further information.

Similarly, Google Chrome may also be coming to Snapdragon PCs, as Microsoft and Google engineers appear to be working together to bring the browser to Windows 10 on ARM. Both Chrome and Firefox are demanding web browsers that can take up a lot of resources from the always-connected Windows laptops when multiple tabs are open, but with the native 64-bit architecture, the computers may fare a bit better.
